Day 2: Creative Location Scouting Challenge

Overview:

Welcome to Day 2 of the 5-Day Photographer’s Video Challenge! Today, we’re switching things up with a Creative Location Scouting Challenge. 🎥 Finding unique spots for photoshoots is one of the best ways to stand out as a photographer, and your audience will love to see how you do it! This challenge is all about showing off your creative eye when scouting locations, whether it’s a hidden alley, a cool park, or even your own backyard.

Challenge:

Create a short video (20-30 seconds) of you scouting out a unique location for a photoshoot. The goal is to show off the location in to not only help clients but also cross network with venues or businesses.

Instructions:

  1. Scout your location – Head out and explore! Look for interesting textures, lighting, or architecture in your area. The location doesn’t need to be fancy—just something with potential.

  2. Film snippets – As you explore, film short clips of the location from different angles, pointing out why you think it would be a great spot for a shoot. Be sure to show off the details like lighting, background textures, and any cool features (like an old brick wall or a cool stairway).

  3. Keep it authentic – Make it fun and personal! Share what you look for when scouting locations. Maybe you’re inspired by the way light hits a certain building or how a color pops in nature.

  4. Edit your clips – Use a simple editing app like CapCut to string together your clips into a fast-paced video. Add some fun music or voiceover explaining your process.

  5. Post and tag – Share your location scouting video on Instagram or TikTok, and tag me so I can check it out! Use hashtags like #PhotoLocationHunt or #LocationScoutChallenge to get more views.

Pro Tips:

  • Don’t be afraid to get creative! Even the most mundane spots can be turned into beautiful backdrops with the right angle and lighting.
  • Show how you can use natural light, shadows, and unique features to enhance your shoot.
  • Add captions to point out what you’re noticing at each spot (e.g., “Perfect lighting here at golden hour”).

By the end of this challenge, you’ll not only have a great piece of content but also some new go-to locations for future shoots! 🌆 This will showcase your creativity and help your audience see how you find beauty in the everyday.
